Communicado

THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR

Tue 2nd March, 8pm

show

Classic satire by Nikolai Gogol
Bribes, mis-directed contracts, mis-allocation of public money, fiddled expenses. Panic. Sound familiar?

Gerry Mulgrew directs this feisty adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s classic satire on bureaucracy and human vanity. A penniless nobody from the big city arrives in a small town, where he is mistaken for the all-powerful government inspector by its corrupt and self-serving officials. Hilarious and vicious in its expose of the corruption of (petty) power, in this age of abuses of office, banking crises and duck islands, The Government Inspector is as timely as ever.

One of Scotland’s most respected and trailblazing theatre companies, Communicado present this piece with all their well-known brio and musical invention in a co-production with The Tron Theatre, Glasgow. A swinging, fast-paced, very black comedy featuring a cast of ten performers, with live music played by the company on electric balalaikas and mouth organs.
